New York – Scarsdale Memorial Day Tournament 2015

Memorial Day weekend is always a busy time of the year for UK Elite soccer with many of our teams, players, coaches and UK Elite families involved with tournaments ran across the country.

Within the New York region, Memorial Day weekend welcomes in the annual Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club Memorial Day Tournament; this year saw the 15th recommencement of the tournament.

The tournament, ran in association with Global Team Events, is held over the course of two days at both the SUNY Purchase College and Quaker Ridge School, two fantastic venues which provide facilities for 5v5, 9v9 and 11v11 brackets allowing for all age groups to participate.

This year the tournament saw over 190 teams play in over 600 soccer matches from U7 through to U14. The tournament allowed teams to test themselves against unfamiliar opposition, with many teams taking the time to travel to New York from Connecticut and New Jersey to play against local Westchester teams competing in a round robin style tournament.

Over the course of the two days some fantastic soccer was played across both venues with each team playing three games within their age bracket in a fast paced environment to allow for maximal enjoyment from all participants – who loved spending their memorial weekend playing soccer!

A presentation ceremony was held for each bracket to celebrate the efforts and participation of all the players and whilst winners and runners up received a trophy; every child left with a smile on their face!

The weekend was played with a real festival atmosphere as children and adults alike took time to play in the Global Team Events inflatable soccer field and test their power and accuracy on the SKLZ speed radar – even beating some of the UK Elite Soccer trainers!

One of the real highlights of the weekend was Saturdays U7/U8 festival, held at the SUNY Purchase site. This saw U7/U8 teams from the area play in an exciting 5v5 round robin tournament played on a much smaller field than normal. This allowed every player to stay active, involved and increase the amount of time they spent with the ball – A real treat for everyone involved!

At the end of a fantastic two days of tournament soccer everyone involved with UK Elite Soccer, Global Team Events and Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club thanked each parent and child for their participation and help in making the 15th annual Scarsdale Memorial Day Tournament the most successful one yet!
