I was told from a very wise parent, “ coaches job is to coach, my job is to take them out to dinner after the game” best advise ever...

Wise wise man! Coaches make very little $, they do it for the love of the game. Parents are there to love children unconditionally, period! Let coaches coach! Let the kids learn. Life lessons gained!

I was the same as him when watching my kids play. I brought my chair and snacks and sat in my lawn chair and didn’t say a word. However, many of the parents were very active and vocal. I avoided them and sat in my own section and just enjoyed seeing my kids play! I have coached for over 40 years.

I would encourage every parent of a child that plays youth sports to watch this video. NOT TO BEAT YOURSELF UP BUT TO HOPEFULLY LEARN FROM IT. I KNOW I SURE DID

My father was a professional and my coaches knew nothing when i was growing up... having my father yell at me during games and train with me outside one on one taught me the game and helped me become a good player

This video changed my perspective on watching my kids play sports. I encourage every parent to try and live by these words. It will be better for your kid’s team, the coach, and more importantly; your kid.

When I played it was embarrassing when adults Lived vicariously through their kids.

So much truth. We need more parent coaches and volunteers. I told my ex this year. If you feel you're not getting enough time with your kids because of sports then go coach. They need sports and family in my opinion in their life.

If I wanted my kids to be wussies I would have named them Dr. Quin and Medicine Woman!

Thank you Fusion for posting this. I was at one of the Fusion games cheering on my grandson, and it was 95 degrees outside. A man, a father, was in the stands yelling at his son, who was a catcher. "Go get that ball, get up and move." This went on for a long time. The poor kid was sweating and exhausted with all that catcher's geer on. I was embarrassed for that kid and appalled at his dad. The kid was almost in tears. Before having a "Come to Jesus meeting with this dad, I got up and moved away. I was almost in tears having to listen to him yell at his son. I hope all the parents read this and I hope he sees my comment. There was absolutely no respect for his son or the coaches. Thank you coaches for all you do for these kids, and the volunteering of your time. I hope someone learns from this.

My son played baseball and when his coach decided to put him in as pitcher, we won the game. My son was an awesome pitcher, all the parents would ask us why the coach wouldn’t use him more. We never said anything, just thanked them for the compliment. Now, I know nothing about baseball but I know when the coach was playing favorites and his son who couldn’t throw or run was always on the mound. Parents complained. We did not. When we actually made it to playoffs(?) we were as surprised as everyone else. The coach put my son in to pitch. The other parents told the coach no. Use someone else. He didn’t listen as usual and the team was disqualified. My son threw 3 beautiful pitches and won the game. But they were disqualified because all the parents told the coach that my son did not have enough rest time between games. The coach was saving his son so his son could win the game. The coach was that obvious. Wouldn’t listen and thought he could bend the rules. So what do you do as a parent? We said nothing as parents came to us and congratulated us for our son winning the game and complaining about being disqualified all at the same time. Our son was proud of his pitching but when asked how he felt about being disqualified, he said, “maybe next year.” Sometimes, the coach isn’t a go to kind of guy. If a kid asked why, he was benched for the next game. I am grateful that there are coaches out there that care and teach our children sportsmanship and gracious behaviour but there are coaches that can be just as bullying and rude as the parents.

Wow; I have been in the game for ..a long time and heard and seen things and have been the brunt of many "disgruntled" parents...as a coach. This speech is so right on. Thank you.

Or put another way, how about showing respect. Give it and earn it back, and teach your kids by example to do the same.

I agree 100% with him, parents need to not be telling their kids what to do while on the field. Being an ex coach it was the biggest pain you know where

Sadly I think only coaches and coach’s spouses tell their kids, ‘Don’t complain, go talk to your coach instead.’ 🙁

Excellent advice! When my husband coached, basketball he told a parent who stayed a little too long at practice to give his advice. To come the next day at 4:00 & he can b his assistant. The parent said oh I can't do that, I don't have the time!!!! Btw not a paid position!

Way too many coaches in the stands. Unfortunately things will not get better, because the parents have taken over.

Smart man! Show this to your kids and those rude adults need to listen!

Ppl don't understand how hard it is to be an official

I coached high school boys every summer for 9 y ears .let kids enjoy themselves. PARENTS Every boy is not going to make the major leagues

I thank God for my father everyday yelling from the stands. Heck most parents don't even go to the games to watch their kids these days. If it wasn't for my father' s push and motivation I wouldn't have went as far as I did. But I was lucky to have role model athletic father. He put that killer in me!

I agree with everything here, other then when they are in high school, playing 3 rd base, and a girl smokes one foul down 3 rd base for the 3 rd strike and the coach doesn’t remind her to back up because there is 2 strikes. For Christ sakes I don’t want my daughter to get her head taken off!!

UK soccer just the same! I've played for 30 or more years, I have lots to offer but this is the reason I wouldn't coach. The parents are so annoying. I'd love to set something up where parents are not allowed to watch. That way you know the kids who turn up have parents who trust you to do what's right for their kids... 👍

The save on that first move was pretty huge. I'm sure that would have gone in on a few guys that have been playing their whole lives even.

He's always a great keeper. He's hard done by the defender in front of him. Very rarely he done a blunder.

He is bigger now covering a smaller goal post, we have to be told that he is d one in there bcos he has left from being a free agent in football to an undercover one in Ice Hockey.😁😁
